Basic Course Navigation: The Navbar

Discover how to navigate through MyCourses. Each course may vary slightly depending on how the instructor has chosen to lay it out. There are, however, certain navigation features that should be available in all courses. This tutorial will show you some of the basic navigation tools starting with how to access a course by navigating through the content within a course.

Tabs on the Navbar

  1. Once you enter a course, you can use the links and menus in the Navigation Bar to navigate to specific areas of the course.

  2. Course Home - when you first enter a course, you will be taken to the Course Home. You can return to this spot at any time by clicking the Course Home link in the navigation bar

  3. Calendar - use the calendar to view important course dates including assignment due dates

  4. Course Content – this link will take you to the main area of your course where you will access course materials, assignments, and the course syllabus

  5. Communicate - this menu offers links to commonly used communication tools such as email, chat, and discussions as well as a link to view the class list

  6. Report - this menu offers you options to view your current progress in the course. This is also where you can go to view your eportfolio.

  7. Submission Review – this menu offers links to review your discussion posts, Dropbox submissions, and quiz submissions. This is a good way to see all the available (completed or not) learning activities in a course. For example, if you want to see all the discussions in a course, you can click submission review, then Discussions.

  8. Grades – this link offers access to your grades in the course
